Information Required for the Artist Platform
Album/ E.P/ Single's Price
The Artist Platform functions as a full services Platform for Artists who don't have an existing website or way to sell music directly to their fans. The elements of the Artist Platform are customizable so that it can function as a full-service Platform, or If you already have a website, it can work as just a platform to sell music, which then can be linked to your existing site. The following elements are required to build out the platform and will vary based on which Platform functionalities you choose.
Album, E.P, or Single Artwork
Album Art: 3000px X 3000px. 300dpi
Your Artwork Must Be :
JPG, PNG, or GIF image file
Perfect square and at least 1600 x 1600 pixels. iTunes recommends images to be 3000 x 3000 pixels ( IMPORTANT: If you are distributing your music to the Amazon On Demand store, your artwork must be EXACTLY 1600 x 1600 pixels)
Best-quality RGB Color mode (including black and white images)
Resolution of at least 72 dpi (300 dpi is better)
Only include text stating the artist name and release title (exactly as it appears in the title you enter in Music Roo) or image only with no text
Images that you own the rights to distribute
Do NOT include :
Extra text outside of your release title and artist name
Mismatching text on artwork and artist name/title (i.e. if you're uploading a single but your art says the album title where the single will later appear, this is a conflict. You must enter the single's title or no title on the art).
Email addresses, URLs, or any other contact information or any pricing information
Stickers or other items from your artwork in case you are scanning it in from a physical CD - please remove them
Anything suggesting that your release is a physical or digital product, such as "CD," "DVD," "Digital Exclusive"
Cut off artwork (cut off text or images) or blurry artwork
Artwork that is compressed into one corner with the rest of the image having white space
Anything saying "iTunes" or referencing a digital store name or logo
Any copyrighted images that you do not own the rights to distribute
Web Header Artwork
Header Art: 1200px X 550px. 300dpi
Multipule Header Art: 1200px X 550px. 300dpi
This should be an image that you own or have rights to, either an image made by you or for you. The image should preferably be a promotional image for you or your music. It can also be a royalty-free image that you have bought the rights to from a service such as Shutterstock or Adobe. For the images used on the website, they should be visually consistent with the other header images and or the album artwork. However, it should be a different image from the album artwork.
The preferable size should be 1024-1200 pixels long and 256 -550 pixels, wide at a resolution over 72dpi (300dpi is preferred). If your desired image doesn't match these requirements, we will do our best to edit it to fit without losing the quality of the image. We can do this as long as the original image is rectangular in shape and landscape in format.
Optimal File Type
Save your header image as a JPG at 60 to 80 quality
Do not submit PNG images; in 99% of cases, JPG compression will yield the most optimal quality and file size. Avoid going over 200 kb.
You may have a different Header Image for each page. For this, we require that each header be the same size and format as the Home Page header. We would also request that you include your name/ artist name and the specific page in the file name. For example: Artsie_Header_Home.jpg.
Background Art: 1920px X 1080px. 300dpi
If you choose to have a background image instead of a flat color, then these are the image specs that we require The best website background image size is 1920 x 1080 pixels, according to Malama Online Marketing, and the ideal ratio is 16:9. The dpi (dots per inch) should be at least 72, yet you still want to keep the file size as small as possible to minimize site load times.
This shouldn't be an image that is overly complicated or detailed because the background image will be automatically adjusted to fit different screen sizes, which will result in the image being either zoomed in or out to meet the user's screen size.
The image should be one created for you and one that you have rights to use. It can be a royalty-free image that you have bought the rights to from a service such as Shutterstock or Adobe. For the images used on the website, they should be visually consistent with the other images and color scheme of the Artist Platform. However, it should be a different image from the album artwork.
If your desired image doesn't match these requirements, we will do our best to edit it to fit without losing the quality of the image. We can do this as long as the original image is rectangular in shape and landscape in format.
Thumbnail Art: 1920px X 1080px. 300dpi
Standard Video thumbnail images use with these dimensions: 1280 pixels wide by 720 pixels tall, with a minimum width of 640 pixels. A ratio of 16:9 is ideal as it's used most often in YouTube players and previews. The image should have a resolution of at least 72dpi, preferably 300dpi.
